Thanks for viewing the CBRM Property Taxpayers Association website. This Association was formulated by property taxpayers of CBRM who are mainly concerned with the ever increasing property tax assessments within this region and the proposal by the Union of Nova Scotia Municipalities President, Mr Billy Joe MacLean, that the Province of Nova Scotia needs to eliminate the Capped Assessment Program (CAP) put in place in 2005. There were good reasons at the time to have a CAP in place; but, to remove the CAP program now after 6 years would cause so many more problems and would not, in our opinion, result in "fixing" the problems that existed prior (please refer to the petition signed by hundreds of citizens at our initial meeting).

Our mission
Our mission is to work with Municipal & Provincial Governments including the Union of Nova Scotia Municipalities to find a mutually agreeable resolution towards removing the CAP and replacing it with a fair, equitable and uniform property tax program. (It needs to be recognised that not all benefactors of the present system are actually property taxpayers.)
